a safe place for gentle connection

Step out of the noise and rest your nervous system alongside other women, nature and the quiet presence of horses.

3 & 6 week groups at StillHaven

Stillhaven offers extremely limited seasonal Group Programs designed for women and girls seeking a slower, more intentional pace.

Participants commit to the full length of the program they choose and attend the same weekly session time with the same small group throughout.

Each group is intentionally small and capped at 8 participants to support a sense of consistency and familiarity, allowing people to arrive as they are, move at their own pace, and engage without feeling overwhelmed.

Each weekly session is 90 minutes and follows a gentle, predictable rhythm from arrival through closing. While no two sessions are exactly the same, the overall structure remains consistent so participants know what to expect. Nothing is rushed, and there are no surprises or performance expectations.

Programs are currently offered for adult women and those who identify as women, as well as teen girls and those who identify as girls.

The 3 Week Rhythm

Across each 3 week program, participants move through a different gathering each week.

Week 1
Mindfulness with Horses

Week 2
Mindful Crafting

Week 3
Mindfulness in Motion

The 6 Week Rhythm

Across each 6 week program, participants move through 3 types of gatherings. Each one repeats twice, creating familiarity and balance.

Week 1 and Week 4
Mindfulness with Horses

Week 2 and Week 5
Mindful Crafting

Week 3 and Week 6
Mindfulness in Motion

This rhythm remains the same each season so participants always know what to expect.

Sessions

Mindfulness with Horses

These sessions are about slowing all the way down. Time is spent in guided meditation and quiet presence with the horses, with no expectation to interact, speak, or do anything at all. You may sit, stand, or simply breathe nearby as the horses move, rest, or graze around you.

There is something profoundly settling about sharing space with animals who are fully present and not asking anything of you. Rescued miniature horses and donkeys live at a gentle pace, and being near them often makes it easier to let your own guard down.

People leave these sessions feeling steadier, softer, and more grounded. Not because anything was fixed, but because nothing was demanded.

This session is especially meaningful for those who feel constantly “on,” overwhelmed by social pressure, or for anyone who rarely experiences true quiet.

Mindful Crafting

These sessions offer a different kind of calm.

Time is spent creating simple, thoughtful pieces with your hands. Each participant makes one item to take home and one to donate. Donations may go to a nursing home, hospital unit, nonprofit organization, or similar place where a small, human-made object can land gently with someone else.

The crafts are intentionally accessible. No experience or artistic skill is required. The repetition and focus of the work allow the mind to settle without needing silence or conversation.

There is something deeply satisfying about making something meaningful for another person without needing recognition or explanation. It gives purpose without pressure and connection without emotional effort.

Mindfulness in Motion

These sessions are for those who feel better when the body is allowed to move.

Time may include slow walks with the horses along meadow paths, gentle movement through shared pasture spaces, or quiet, hands-on interaction if desired. The pace is unhurried and flexible. There is no destination and no goal.

Movement here is not exercise. It is simply a way to stay present while letting the body loosen and reset. Horses move naturally between stillness and motion, and being alongside them often makes it easier to do the same.

If weather limits outdoor movement, the session may include light stretching near the horses inside the dry barn instead, maintaining the same calm, grounded tone.

This session is especially supportive for people who carry stress in their bodies, for caregivers and professionals who hold tension all week, and for those who regulate best through gentle movement.

No horse experience necessary.
